EC3, for example, is a great talent and should have been used better on Raw, but the state of his call-up is not good.Ġ. Yes, some of these wrestlers could have had much better call-ups, so don’t (always) see their placement on this list as an indictment of the performer. While many prioritize the last entry on that list above all else, it’s hard to say that gimmicks should always translate, and that WWE can use the buzz of a small, dedicated audience to make rabid fans out of their much larger, broader audience. Has their main roster run matched expectations set by their NXT run? Did they flop out of WWE in such an acrimonious way that I doubt they’ll ever return? Did they win titles, or more importantly, get a lot of TV time? Did they connect with - and engage - the fans, which often requires turning chicken shit into chicken salad? What was the actual call-up like? Memorable or forgettable? I’m defining the quality of a call-up by the success that wrestler has had on the main roster, in five ways. And, a wrestler has to have spent at least some noteworthy time on NXT TV to be counted, which takes off Braun Strowman and Roman Reigns. This difference is made to focus on when NXT had replaced FCW as WWE’s official developmental territory.Īlso, wrestlers that spent time in NXT after their main roster debut before returning to Raw or SmackDown - such as Curtis Axel and Drew McIntyre - don’t count, unless there was a significant repackage, as with EC3 and Tye Dillinger.
